She completed her M.Sc. in November 2007 and earned her Ph.D. in 2012 at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB), Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH), under the supervision of Dr. Kriton Kalantidis.

Her Ph.D. thesis, entitled “Investigation of the Biological Cycle of Potato Spindle Tuber Viroid in Nicotiana benthamiana Plants Suppressed for Dicer-like Proteins,” focused on the role of the RNA silencing machinery during the biological cycle of Potato Spindle Tuber Viroid (PSTVd) in Nicotiana benthamiana plants.

From 2011 to 2014, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Epigenetics Laboratory at AlPlanta – Institute for Plant Research, Germany.
