Esteban Emanuel Nieto has a degree in Biology with a specialization in zoology (B.Sc. + M.Sc. equivalent) from the National University of La Plata, Argentina. He completed his Ph.D. in July 2023 at the Centre for Research and Development in Industrial Fermentations under the supervision of Dr. Bibiana Coppotelli. During his PhD thesis, titled “Study of PAH-degrading bacterial cultures: from diversity studies to functional microbiomics,” Dr. Nieto studied, through a multi-omic approach, the interactions occurring among the members of a consortium during the degradation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and the interactions between the consortium and the native soil microbial community during bioremediation processes. Currently, his work is focused on the impact of top-down regulation by protists in bacterial population dynamics and functioning. He has authored 4 papers in peer-reviewed journals (h-index: 2, Citations: 22).
