Konstantina Rousidou holds a BSc in Biochemistry and Biotechnology and an MSc in Environmental Biotechnology, both from the University of Thessaly. She completed her Ph.D. in June 2020 in the same department, working in the Laboratory of Plant and Environmental Biotechnology under the supervision of Dr. D. Karpouzas. In her Ph.D., she studied the microbial degradation of carbamates, and her dissertation was titled: “Isolation of bacteria that degrade carbamate insecticides and characterization of the functional and ecological role of bacterial genes involved in their hydrolysis in soil”. She has participated in EU and nationally funded projects (OMIC-ENGINE, EXCELLENCE II / BIOREMEDIAT-OMICS), with her research centered on microbial degradation of pesticides, particularly the genetic mechanisms behind this process. Currently, her work focuses on discovering novel pesticide-degrading enzymes using functional metagenomic strategies. Konstantina has contributed to 15 papers in peer-reviewed journals (Scopus: h-index 13, citations 466) and to 19 publications in the proceedings of national and international conferences.
