Marios holds a BSc degree from the department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, University of Thessaly. He completed his MSc degree in Applications of Molecular Biology, Molecular Genetics – Diagnostic Biomarkers, in the same department. In his MSc thesis, and as a research assistant, he worked on the arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis regulation, in the laboratory of Plant and Environmental Biotechnology. Since May 2023, he has been a PhD student in the same laboratory, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Sotirios Vasileiadis, in the subject of Molecular Microbial Ecology – Genomics. In his dissertation, for which he holds an H.F.R.I. scholarship since May 2024, he studies the dispersal and persistence of pathogens and antimicrobial resistance (AMR), due to sustainable agricultural production practices.
