Marco Antonio Campos

Associate Professor

Dr. Marco Antonio Campos Burgos is a Chilean Ph.D. in Natural Resources Sciences from Universidad de La Frontera. His research focuses on microbial ecology, environmental microbiology, biogeochemistry, eutrophication, antimicrobial resistance, and One Health approaches linking environmental and human health. He is currently an Associate Professor and Researcher at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Universidad Católica de Temuco, Chile, where he leads research activities in environmental and health-related microbiology. His work integrates high-throughput sequencing, metagenomics, bioinformatics, and environmental monitoring to study microbial communities in aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. Dr. Campos was a member and ongoing collaborator of the Plant, Microbial & Environmental Biotechnology for a Sustainable Future group at the University of Thessaly, Greece. Through this collaboration, he has co-authored several peer-reviewed publications with researchers from this group, covering advances in environmental biotechnology, pesticide biodegradation, and microbial ecology. He has authored more than 35 peer-reviewed scientific publications and has an H-index of 14.
